Q: I am new, can you show me how to use the library?
A: Yes, please ask Entrance Hall staff about booking a "Making the most of the RSL" session.
Q: What are the opening hours of the RSL?
A: These are displayed on the notice board outside the library. A printed sheet covering the current term or vacation is available at the Entrance Hall Enquiry desk.  Opening hours can also be checked online.
Q: Where do I find a list of all full-text electronic journals available in Oxford?

Q: I am not familiar with electronic resources. Could you show me how to use them?

Q: I have found the article I want but am asked for a username and password when I want the full text displayed.
A: This may mean that you are not logged in to the network.  If you are connected to the network it usually means that our coverage does not include the volume or year you require.
Q: Can I print from electronic resources and is there a charge?
A: Yes, you can, the cost is 7p a page and you use a Bodleian Libraries' PCAS account to pay.
Q: Where is the printer?
A: All library photocopiers are networked printers on the PCAS system.
Q: Does the library have a scanner?
A: Yes, all the library photocopiers function as scanners. Please remember copyright regulations apply (copyright notices are displayed by the photocopiers).
Q: How do I get a Bodleian Libraries' PCAS account?
You open the account online. Once you have an account you also top it up online using a credit or debit card.?
Q: Can I borrow material from the Radcliffe Science Library?
A: Yes, if you are a member of Oxford University. See the Borrowing page for full details of what can be borrowed and for how long.
Q: Can I use my digital camera in the library to photograph pages from library material?
A: Yes, but you can't use flash and copyright regulations apply (copyright notices are displayed by the photocopiers).

Q: How do I request material held in the closed bookstack?
A: You can make stack requests using the online catalogue, OLIS. Instructions are available in the library, at http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/olis/asr/  [opens in new window] or library staff will be happy to help.
Q: I have ordered a book from offsite storage or closed stacks. Where do I collect it?
A: Stack and offsite books are delivered to a reserve in the Entrance Hall where your book will be held for one week. The reserve is not self-service so please ask a member of staff for your book.
Q: I have searched the online catalogue (OLIS) and the electronic journal listing, (OU e-Journals) and still cannot find the item I require. How can I get hold of it?
A: You can apply for an interlibrary loan, it usually takes about 5 working days and there will be a charge for this service. Please see Entrance Hall Enquiry desk staff.
Q: Can I connect my laptop to the network?
A: Yes, there are network points on level 2 (underground reading room) and on level 8. See the Bodleian Libraries' instructions for using your own computer for more information. [Opens in new window.]
Q: Can I connect my laptop wirelessly?
A: Yes, there are wireless access points in all reading rooms.  See the Using your own computer page for more information.
Q: Can I connect to the network from home?
