Example wording for use by authors to request the publisher's/copyright holder's permission to include an item in ORA

When contacting publishers the 'Rights department' is often not the correct section to approach. Try finding someone who deals with authors and their queries. Please contact ORA staff at ORA@bodleian.ox.ac.uk if you need help.

Book Chapter

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am the author of the following book chapter and would like permission to include this chapter in the Oxford University Research Archive (ORA).

The Oxford University Research Archive (http://ora.ox.ac.uk/) is a repository for research publications and other research output produced by members of the University of Oxford. Please note that the full content of items submitted to the archive will be available free of charge on the Internet, non-commercial use only.

I should like to include the bibliographic details and a [scanned version of the published chapter OR my personal final version of the chapter] in the archive. The copyright holder will be acknowledged and a link to the publisherís website provided [where available]. The inclusion of this chapter in ORA is likely to provide extra publicity for the book.
