Bodleian Libraries scoop award at the Museums + Heritage Awards

Image of the Bodleian Libraries' Museum + Heritage awardBodleian Libraries staff accepted a coveted Museums + Heritage Award yesterday, at a prestigious event held at 8 Northumberland Avenue, Westminster.

The Bodleian Libraries won the Marketing Campaign award for the announcement and promotion of the Libraries' 12 millionth book, Percy Shelley's Poetical Essay. Runners-up for the prize included the Royal Air Force Museum, The Courtauld Gallery, Lincoln Castle and the Victoria and Albert Museum, who were Highly Commended for their marketing of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition.

It was also a good night for Oxford as a whole. The University of Oxford Museum of Natural History not only won the award for Best Project on a Limited Budget for their Dodo Roadshow, but also walked away with the top prize, Best of the Best. The Bodleian Libraries Conservation & Collection Care team were also shortlisted for their work on the Sheldon Tapestry.

The annual Museums + Heritage Awards for Excellence, now in its fourteenth year, recognizes projects of excellence, innovative and ground-breaking exhibitions from galleries and visitor attractions across the UK and Europe.
