Thanks to the generous support we have received from hundreds of donors all over the world, we are delighted to announce that Sprint for Shakespeare has crossed the finish line!
Donations of all sizes, from friends and Shakespeare enthusiasts across the globe, have helped us to reach our target of £20,000 in the year of the Cultural Olympiad. In the New Year, we will be able to open up our copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio online, one of the greatest treasures in the Bodleian collection, for the study and enjoyment of scholars, schoolchildren and Shakespeare lovers alike, everywhere - and for free! Keep an eye out for the online launch and for upcoming features in the New Year at http://shakespeare.bodleian.ox.ac.uk
If you would still like to be involved in the project, please make your donation before the end of the calendar year, and we will be happy to list your name alongside our other supporters
. You will also be entered into our special lottery draw - see the Sprint for Shakespeare website
for more details.
The Bodleian is involved in many projects to digitize its holdings and bring them to a wider audience, and surplus beyond our initial target will go towards further online features for the First Folio and future online projects to open up the Bodleian collections. We are delighted with the amount of interest and good will that we have received in response to this project - thank you so much to all of those involved in sprinting for Shakespeare!
