Bodleian Library featured in ITV drama

Lewis2016th20Sept20200720005The Bodleian features in the new series of the ITV drama, Lewis, which returns to the screens on Sunday. Episode one of the new series, And The Moonbeams Kiss the Sea, will be shown on ITV1 on 24 February at 9pm. Internal areas of the Bodleian, including the stacks, as well as the Old Schools Quadrangle, feature in this episode.

The Bodleian Library is the setting of a murder. A body is found in the Library and further intrigue arises when stolen books are found in the victim's home: '... in the basement of the Bodleian Library, a maintenance engineer, Chapman (Darren Clarke), is found shot in the head. At Chapmanís house, Hathaway finds 19thcentury books from the Bodleian, even though it does not lend out its books.' (from itv.com)

Kevin Whately who plays Lewis, the Oxford-based inspector, said: 'I think itís fair to say that Oxford is very much the star of the films. Wherever you point the camera you have a great shot.'
