The Bodleian Libraries are committed to providing equal access to their services and facilities for all users.
Level access to the Central Bodleian site (Old Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera and Gladstone Link) is via the Old Library.
Detailed information on access to individual readings rooms and libraries can be found at http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/using/disability/access/details. History Faculty Library collections are located in the Radcliffe Camera and Gladstone Link reading rooms.
Wheelchair users should contact the library (email@example.com) about access arrangements prior to their first visit, and it is necessary to have a tailored induction, lasting about an hour, before beginning to use the library.
Height adjustable tables are available as follows:
4 in the Upper Reading Room, Old Bodleian
2 in the Lower Reading Room, Old Bodleian
4 in the Gladstone Link
0 in the Lower Radcliffe Camera
There two sets of accessible toilets available:
- immediately to your right as you enter the Old Bodleian Library via the level access point.
- in Upper Gladstone Link, Radcliffe Camera side.
Assistance animals, such as guide dogs and hearings dogs, are always allowed in to the Bodleian Libraries.

University members with disabilities can be registered as HFL privileged readers. This membership provides extended loans in term (28 days) on all HFL lending books except for high use, short loan items (2 days), and up to 15 books can be borrowed.
Over vacations books are issued for the whole period of the holiday and the loan limit increased, up to 20 books over Christmas and Easter, and up to 30 books over the Long Vacation.
Readers can request proxy borrowing on their account by a support workers or designated helper. In the first instance contact email@example.com to arrange this. All items borrowed in this way remain the responsibility of the disabled reader.
Renewals and reservations
Disabled readers with privileged membership are welcome to request additional renewals in person, by phone 01865 (2)77262, or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Books that are currently out on loan can be reserved online via SOLO.

Staff are always happy to help get books from high shelves, or from less accessible areas in the library, and it is possible to contact us by phone 01865 (2)77262 or by email email@example.com with a list of the books you need and ask staff to put them aside for collection by yourself or your support worker. Please bear in mind that at busy times there may be a delay before we are able to fulfill your request.
