Photocopying and Printing

An integrated printing/photocopying/scanning service (PCAS) operates across the Bodleian Libraries and uses an on-line payment system. Print jobs sent from any PC or laptop in any library can be collected at any copier; the machines will print, copy and scan to e-mail in black and white or colour. Scans can be sent to your e-mail address or saved to a USB flash drive. The EFL has two copiers, located upstairs in the Gallery.

Th new PCAS system was introduced across Bodleian Libraries on August 9th 2010.  This offers a range of new services including:

  • Scanning as a standard service across all libraries
  • Colour printing/copying/scanning
  • Duplex printing, with discounts
  • Self-service top-up of accounts from any PC
  • Send a print job and collect from any device in any library within 72 hrs
  • One card system, with credit held in system and not on a card
  • Users can view their own account activity

For further information please go to the Bodleian Libraries Making a Copy webpage

Payment made through online accounts topped up by credit/debit cards.  Credit remaining on cards from the existing system can be transferred to the online account.   Set up your PCAS account and then ask library staff for a credit transfer envelope. Credit from your old card will normally be transferred to your new account within two weeks.

Price Changes

The prices of copying, printing, and scanning have also changed. The price of a single copy will reduce with further discounts for duplex printing. A small charge for scanning will be introduced as a scanning service is introduced across all Bodleian Libraries.

Please remember that copyright law restricts the amount that can be copied from any single work. The standard amount regarded as reasonable is one chapter or 5% of the total length of a monograph, or one article from a periodical issue. More information about copyright limits is available via the Bodleian Libraries Copyright page.

Printing

As well as collecting your print jobs from any PCAS copier device within the Bodleian Libraries, it is also possible to print out material from the computers in the St. Cross Building IT Training Room.

The IT Training Room requires swipe card access. If you are uncertain as to whether you have permission to access this facility, please contact the English Faculty Office by email: english.office@ell.ox.ac.uk, stating your name, University card number and your reader status, e.g. Undergraduate / Postgraduate, and department, and your name will be checked against the system and added if appropriate.
