Borrowing allowances

 English Faculty Members

  • Undergraduates: 10 books for 7 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Taught Postgraduates: 15 books for 14 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • MSt Film Aesthetics: 15 books for 14 days (2 short loans / 6 dvds)
  • Research Postgraduates: 15 books for 28 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Senior members: 20 books for 90 days (2 short loans / 6 dvds)

Members of other faculties

Members of other faculties who need to access the library's collections for academic purposes are welcome to register as borrowers 

  • Undergraduates: 8 books for 7 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Postgraduates: 8 books for 7 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Senior members: 12 books for 28 days (2 short loans / 6 dvds)
  • Non-Academic staff: 8 books for 7 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Visiting Students: 8 books for 7 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)
  • Readers with a disability: 15 books for 28 days (2 short loans / 4 dvds)

Points to remember

  1. Items may be renewed as long as they have not been reserved by another reader.
  2. Readers may renew library items up to three times. After that you will need to bring them back to the library to have them renewed. Items can be renewed online using SOLO. Please see the online guide to SOLO for further information. 
  3. Borrowing for the vacation begins for most items on Monday of 8th week each term, short loan vacation borrowing starts Thursday 8th Week (see Film Studies for further details on borrowing DVDs/videos for the vacation).
  4. Fines are charged to all readers at the rate of 20p per day per item overdue, with the exception of overdue films and short loan books, which are charged at £1.00 per day. You can pay fines at any circulating library (within the Bodleian Libraries group) no matter which Bodleian Library charged the fine. If you have fines of £2 or more, you can pay these online with a debit or credit card.
