Notes

  1. Books may be renewed as long as they have not been reserved by another reader.
  2. Readers may renew library items up to three times, including two online renewals per item per borrowing period (i.e. for as long as you are able to have the book/tape/DVD out from the library). After that you will need to bring them back to the library to have them renewed. Items can be renewed online using SOLO. Please see the SOLO LibGuide for further information.

  3. Telephone renewals are not permitted, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

  4. Readers are also permitted to borrow up to four CDs, audio-cassettes or LPs for a week at a time, and up to four films for two days (see Film Studies for further details).
  5. Borrowing for the vacation begins on Monday of 8th week each term, for books and tapes. Items borrowed from Monday of 8th week will be issued until the following term. (see Film Studies for further details on borrowing DVDs/videos for the vacation).
  6. Fines are charged to all readers at the rate of 20p per day per item overdue, with the exception of overdue films and short loan books, which are charged at £1.00 per day.
  7. The library has over 2,000 registered borrowers at any one time, and records over 100,000 issues per annum, so be prepared for queues at the Issue Desk at busy times! If the Issue Desk is busy, or the librarian on duty is away from the desk, please ask for help in the library office.
