Access during the The Globe's Performance at the Bodleian

8 July 2013

During the period Tuesday 9 July – Sunday 21July 2013 the Bodleian Library is delighted to host in association with Oxford Playhouse a Globe Theatre on Tour’s production of Taming of the Shrew in the Old Schools Quadrangle.

Whilst disruption to readers will be kept to a minimum as the performances take place outside Library opening hours (with the exception of one Saturday matinee on 20 July starting at 3.30pm), there may be a larger number of visitors than usual in the Quadrangle and Proscholium towards the end of each performance day associated with the production and set up. There will also be a series of pre-show talks given by members of the Faculty of English, University of Oxford.

Audience seating will be retained in the Quadrangle throughout this period but there will be ample space for readers to access the Library. It is not anticipated that any entrances to the Quadrangle will be closed off with the exception of a closure of the North Arch entrance on Tuesday 9 July to allow set up.
