Indian Institute Reading Room

Closure of the Indian Institute Reading Room

In preparation for the refurbishment of the New Bodleian Library, expected to begin next year, modern printed Oriental collections currently stored in the New Bodleian must be temporarily relocated. The relocation is being carried out in order to give continued access to these books and periodicals during the forthcoming refurbishment of the library. The Indian Institute collection will be included in the temporary move.

The Indian Institute Reading Room will close on Friday Sept 10th 2010. Reading Room services and a selection of open-shelf research materials from the Indian Institute Reading Room will move to the Oriental Institute Library.

History reading list items will be transferred to the Upper Camera.

Readers who wish to consult Indian Institute Reading Room books after September 10th 2010 will need to order them via the stack request system. Library staff will endeavour to keep OLIS updated with the latest location information
