Projects

We undertake projects to develop and support our services.

Current projects

We are currently collaborating with the Department of Special Collections at Stanford University Libraries on its ePADD project to develop an open source tool to allow repositories to undertake core curatorial activities - Processing (arrangement and description), Appraisal (collection development), Discovery (online via the web), and Delivery (access) - in relation to email archives. See the ePADD web page for further information.

Previous projects

The futureArch project (2008-12) laid the foundations for BEAM, providing the Library with baseline lifecycle management for hybrid archival collections, ensuring that the Library continues to develop, process and make available its rich and unique resources for the benefit of scholars now and in the future.

The Paradigm project (2005–2007) was the Library's first practical exploration of the cultural, legal and technical issues involved in the long term preservation of digital private papers. It encompassed the entire lifecycle of an archive, from the original creation of an archival document to its dissemination to a researcher as a historical record.
