Trainee Posts
In 2010-11, there are 15 posts available in the Bodleian Libraries.
The Bodleian Libraries are an integrated library service for the University of Oxford, and came into being in February 2000. As well as supporting the teaching and research needs of members of the University of Oxford, its resources are extensively used by the wider national and international academic community.
The Bodleian Libraries currently consist of 36 different 'site' libraries, including the major research libraries of the Bodleian group, the Taylor Institution Library and the Sackler Library, and other libraries serving specific faculty and departmental interests.
There are also a number of Bodleian Libraries' functions that provide services across all libraries, including departmental and many college libraries. These include Preservation, Staff Development and Systems and electronice Resources Services. The Bodleian Libraries are supported by a common administrative and management framework for the operation of the individual site libraries. Annual expenditure is currently in the order of £20 million, with approximately 700 staff employed within the library service.
Work is underway through the Bodleian Libraries to improve and standardise the services across libraries, for example, in the use of a common photocopying card and opening hours. The department is continuing to expand and develop and this should be an exciting year to be an employee of the Bodleian Libraries!
